AMC/JMO DATABASE
Application Process
In South Australia the process for the allocation of International Medical Graduates who are AMC Candidates to SA Teaching Hospitals is coordinated by SA IMET.
A database has been established by SA IMET to streamline this process. The database is used to provide clinical experience for international medical graduates in the AMC process and fill vacant Junior Medical Officer positions within the SA Teaching Hospitals.
The SA Teaching Hospitals are:
- Flinders Medical Centre (FMC)
- Lyell McEwin Hospital (LMH)
- Modbury Hospital (Mod)
- Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service
- Noarlunga Health Services (NHS)
- Repatriation General Hospital (RGH)
- Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH)
- The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH)
- Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH)
Registration on the AMC JMO database does not guarantee employment but you must be on the database to be considered for positions in the SA teaching hospitals. Applications for teaching hospital positions are NOT made directly to the hospitals themselves.
Preference for Junior Medical Officer positions will go to those AMC doctors who are residing in South Australia and who have successfully completed the AMC examination process and have undertaken clinical experience in the last two years.
Hospitals will notify SA IMET of Junior Medical Officer vacancies as they arise. The database will then be used to identify suitable doctors in the AMC process and supply the hospitals with candidates for consideration for interview. Therefore there is no set date for vacancies and positions can only be offered as they arise.
If you are a new applicant please go to the New Applicants page.
If you are already on the database and would like to reactivate your application or remove your name from the database please go to the Reactivation Applicants or Removal of Existing Member page (please ensure this is updated in June of each year).
You must be eligible for limited registration with the Medical Board of South Australia. Further information regarding requirements for registration and fees can be obtained at Medical Board of SA website or phone the Board on (08) 8219 9800.
