Prevocational accreditation
The SA MET Health Advisory Council (the Advisory Council) accredits prevocational medical posts in health facilities after assessing the quality of education and training provided to trainee medical officers (TMO).
Accreditation ensures TMO's receive high quality education, training, assessment and support. Through accreditation the Advisory Council is able to advocate for improvement in resources and support for TMO training programs.
The SA MET Unit coordinates teams to undertake site visits and supports the Accreditation Committee to make recommendations for accreditation. The Advisory Council reports on accredited intern positions to the South Australian Board of the Medical Board of Australia and on other prevocational positions to the Chief Executive, SA Health and the Minister for Health and Ageing.
