Allocation priority listing
The SA IMET conduct a central allocation of eligible applicants to intern positions in South Australia.
From 2005:
- Allocations will be based on Hospital preference alone;
- Allocations will be made using the “Optimised Preference Program“.
The SA IMET is consistent with other states and adheres to the following priority listing for intern allocation:
- South Australian graduates who are permanent residents of Australia/New Zealand and Graduates of other medical faculties in Australia/New Zealand who completed Year 12 in South Australia;
- Graduates of other medical faculties in Australia/New Zealand who are permanent residents of Australia/New Zealand;
- South Australian graduates who are not permanent residents of Australia/New Zealand (international students) but who are permitted to remain in Australia/New Zealand for their internship;
- Graduates of other medical faculties in Australia/New Zealand who are not permanent residents of Australia/New Zealand (international students) but who are permitted to remain in Australia/New Zealand for their internship;
- Where positions are vacant at the end of the above allocation process, offers will be made to international medical graduates from the AMC/JMO database.
