SA IMET

JMO Forum

The SA IMET JMO Forum has been established so that JMO representatives from each of the teaching hospitals may meet with representatives from the South Australian State Committee of Directors of Medical Services and SA IMET.

The purpose is to provide a setting for transmission of information concerning JMO training/employment issues and to allow feedback from the Department of Health through medical administrators to the JMOs in each of the teaching hospitals.

In recognition that the first two years after graduation are a continuation of clinical training, and that work issues and training are immutably interrelated, the aims of the SA IMET JMO Forum are:

1. To work towards achieving the best possible practices in training and teaching in the prevocational years.

2. With due consideration for the outcomes in aim 1. above, and with due consideration to the workforce and service needs of the DH, to work towards the best possible working conditions for JMOs.

3. To ensure that the recommendations from the SA IMET JMO Forum are given due consideration by the DH and the Medical Board of South Australia.

4. To contribute on behalf of South Australia to the national developments emanating from the National JMO Forum held each year.

It has been agreed that JMO Forums, sponsored by SA IMET and held at SA IMET Headquarters, will be held 6 times a year. In the interests of continuity intern representatives are strongly encouraged to continue as PGY2 representatives, even if they change teaching hospitals at the end of the intern year. The forums are chaired in rotation by the JMOs.
