Lyell McEwin Hospital

The Lyell McEwin Hospital (LMH) is part of Central Northern Adelaide Health Service and is a 257 bed acute general teaching hospital serving the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide.

The Health Service is undergoing extensive rebuilding and expansion and will become the premier health service in the northern suburbs. It will boast an expanded Women's and Children's Health Service, an Intensive Care Unit, new theatres and day surgery, a renovated Emergency Department and the progressive development of surgical and medical sub-specialities.

Strong links with the community are ensured through services provided by community mental health teams, the diabetes education programme, the palliative care service, and the satellite dialysis centre. LMH is associated with the Universities of Adelaide and South Australia.

It offers a good selection of rotations for basic and non accredited trainees as well as accredited positions with all the major specialist Colleges. The quality of the support and training provided to all junior medical staff is now recognised as among the best available in South Australia.

The active teaching program and varied learning opportunities are well suited to doctors preparing for a career in general practice, including rural general practice.
